A Loss Of Innocence

The sand is stained with blood. My love for you is dying.
The saints above are crying for a loss of innocence.
The raven's on the lawn, he's picking through the remnants.
I'm working through my penance for a loss of innocence.

Half in light and half in shadow,
Each human existence is measured out in tears.
Every bright and strange tomorrow
Incubates the monsters of mankind's ancient fears.

The sea is black with oil. My love for you grows colder.
The pyres of Eden smoulder for a loss of innocence.
My soul descends to hell and clings in desperation
To this or that sensation and a loss of innocence.

Half in light and half in shadow,
Each human existence is measured out in tears.
Every bright and strange tomorrow
Incubates the monsters of mankind's ancient fears.
